The film industry is flourishing here. Giving chance to all the budding directors,producers and actors.To edit all their films we felt the need to of a computer.Since the box office collection was less,Fr.Terance Farias contributed Rs.30,000 towords a new computer.We are thankful to him for his generous contribution towords the growth of our scholastics.

Jesuits and Modern Science : A Symposius

Four Jesuits from Karnataka attended the International Symposium on “Jesuits and Modern Science: Past Heritage, Present Status and Future Prospectus”.Fr. Ignacimuthu SJ, the former Vice Chancellor of Madras University shared his mission as a Jesuit through Scientific research. Fr. Leo D’ Souza SJ, the director of Applied Biology Reserach Lab at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, spoke on the topic, ” Harnessing Biotechnology for Indian Needs: The Contributions of the Laboratory of Applied Biology”. Fr. Melwyn D’ Cunha SJ the Reseach Scholar (FIP) made a presentation on “Fr. Cecil Saldanha and His Contributions to Life Scineces Being a Plant Taxonomist and Environmentalist”. The presentations of Dhruv Raina from JNU, Tad Gonsalves SJ from Sophia College, Japan, Charles Borges SJ from Loyola Baltimore USA, Louis Caruana SJ , University of London, Javier Leach SJ Madrid, Spain, Emilio Gonsalez from Grogorian University, Rome, etc added international touch as well as helped the participants to see the good and committed work done by Jesuits down the centuries. The symposium was organized by Pune’s De Nobili Collge, Jnana Deep Vidyapeeth, Papal Seminary and CBCI (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India) committee for Science, Religion and Society. 

No More Waste

We know earth is the only planet conductive for man’s living. Such a planet is under the threat of devastation due to many reasons. It has become infertile due to heavy dumping of waste materials. Here in vermi-technology all the waste form of organic matter can be converted into usable bio-fertilizer. Therefore vermi-technology is a waste utilizing technology.
Sch. Norwin took active part in this seminars.
 

Directors are in the making

Sch.Wilson produced a short documentary on Commerce Block. It was very creative and meaningful with lots of new ideas put in direction. It will be released during the valedictory function of Commerce Department.

Sch.Dominic also produced a documentary on Xavier block. His documentary was released during Imprints – 2006. His effort was well appreciated by all.

Another feather in the cap

Sch.Austin bagged second prize in the scientific model competition held in the college during IMPRINTS-2006. His model was on electric signals used in the Railways. Lallu has ordered his model to be used in Bangalore Metro .
